Blog base phase 3                                                             James Bisland

The first day that we were in confined water, (pool) I was really excited because it was absolutely awesome.  My favorite thing about getting my certification was probably meeting Greg and Jim. We saw a lot of cool things from chairs to boat parts to reefs.

On our confined water dive, we went over the basics like breathing underwater, clearing our masks underwater, taking our regulators out, and clearing our regulators both ways like a snorkel and purging it. After tha,t we put our fins on and swam around for a while. Then, we took off our masks underwater and had our buddy direct us around the pool.

Other than scuba diving, we went to Key West. It was really cool because everything there was really entertaining. We started at the aquarium and saw moray eels, a 300+ pound goliath grouper, nurse sharks, turtles, stingrays ,and a ton of other really cool fish. I got to feed the nurse sharks, mackerel, and squid.

Later in Key West, we went to Mallory Square and watched the street performers. It was really cool because  while this one group was playing music, their dog went collecting tips from people, it would grab the money with its mouth gently and put it in the bucket. Afterwards, we saw this guy who called himself “Black Superman.” He was amazingly good at acrobatics at the age of 54 years old.

This expedition was really awesome and I wish I could stay longer. My friends back home are in a class room and I was scuba diving fishing, having a great time. I hope all the expeditions stay like this one or get better.
